Delorean- GROW (Yours Truly session) + U.S. Tour Dates

The wonderful folks over at Yours Truly did this sweet session with the Delorean guys in their Spanish home. They talk dubstep, their genesis, work and do an intimate and incredible version of "Grow" off of Subiza. PLUS, the guys announced another round of U.S. Tour dates (with more to come). The version of "Grow" captured in this video is a studied and intimate version of what the band now plays live. It must be hard to be an ambitious musician in Barcelona. Having to tear yourself away from the lure of the white beaches and narrow cobblestone streets to compose in a windowless practice space almost seems impossible!

But it's here in this video- the bare moments of composition and rehearsal, dissection of every detail that eventually adds up to an ecstatic experience imbued with emotional and musical heart. Ekhi refers to a "musical competition" that drives them to step beyond themselves, to take the time to draw from their surroundings and community to create something better than what's come before. It's amazing that Yours Truly captured the band figuring out how to perform the sounds they composed in isolation live. The video shows us the song in its most essential state- underneath the wash of synths and samplers is care and passion, deliberate and constant change. Summoning transcendence is hard spellcasting work and I've seen few people as committed to that craft in my life as Delorean. Good music breathes. YES, thank you!

Glasser at the Bootleg Theater in L.A. Tomorrow night

Our very own GLASSER is playing a rare L.A. show at the Bootleg Theater tomorrow. She'll be backed up by Van Rivers & The Subliminal Kid (otherwise known as the producers behind Fever Ray and the new Blonde Redhead). GLASSER wont be playing in L.A. for some time as she completes her forthcoming album and prepares for more European and U.S. touring. Her live show is incredible as we can attest from the recent XX tour dates she did in the UK. Will be a special night. The Samps opening up.

Hunx and His Punx NEW VID

Hunx and His Punx made a brand new video for one of our favorite songs off of Gay Singles "You Don't Like Rock N Roll". It's directed by Justin Kelly and features a few familiar faces. In case you didn't see it, Hunx also got a shout-out in the NY Times this weekend, which along with current Euro tour dates means he's doing pretty fucking awesome in our opinion.

Introducing DELOREAN

The best part about visiting Barcelona for Primavera Sound last year was entering the fantastic and magical world of Delorean. What we had thought was primarily a remix project turned out to be an enthralling and adventurous full-on band. We were surprised by what a massive and rabid Spanish fan base they had from two previous full-lengths while retaining a relatively low profile in the rest of the world. As it happens, Delorean are at the forefront of a burgeoning community of musicians, producers and dj's who are mining the collective Spanish dance-music heritage of Balearic house and combining it with contemporary independent pop, European techno, shades of the ecstatic Madchester sound and hip hop - a perfect soundtrack to romantic nights along the white Mediterranean sands of Barcelona. Last summer's Ayrton Senna EP soundtracked our lives upon return to the states. Ayrton Senna and their two full-length albums however, only hint at the journey that is Delorean's infectious and innovative synthesis of dance musics and sounds.





It's with all this in mind that we are so proud to announce the release of Delorean's latest album Subiza available April 20th (digital) and June 8th (physical) on True Panther Sounds, available in Spain/Portugal/Mexico on the excellent Mushroom Pillow. Named after the bucolic Basque town in which the album was recorded, Subiza is the realization of a longtime ambition and marks a clear evolution for the band. The dance-club rhythms and airy melodies they've toyed with in the past are fused and textured, making for a deeply obsessive, hypnotic album that retains the easy appeal of great pop music. Looking at 30+ years of club music history with fresh eyes, Delorean have made an album that is dense and soulful. Our first listen to Subiza was exhilarating, every subsequent listen is a revelation.
